Toronto Island.

A couple of weeks back, we caught the ferry from Downtown across to Toronto Center Island.  The ferry ride across to the Island only takes about 15 minutes, of which every minute is spent gazing back at the image of the skyline of Downtown Toronto.  What a sight!

EPIC!

Once on the island we took a stroll through the gardens to the South Side where we picked up a couple of bikes to wheel around the Island.  It’s a very easy, flat surface throughout the entire island, so super easy to cycle on.

I’d say 2 hours is long enough to see the whole Island on a bicycle.  We must’ve covered most of the paths, only avoiding the far Western side of the Island where the Billy Bishop Airport sits.  Pretty cool location for an airport ( a 2 minute conveyor belt under Lake Ontario takes you out in the main terminal building!)

The Island is usually a lot busier during the summer period.  From June – Labour Day weekend in mid-September there are many restaurants and bars that are open throughout, along with an amusement center and kayak rental (something for next summer for sure!)

After a couple of hours of taking in the views, we caught the ferry back to Downtown, just as the clouds started rolling in.
